Installation and requirements

Install and activate EnMigrate Pro.
Open EnMigrate Pro › Help to check the server requirements.
Create your first backup.

PHP ZipArchive extension.
Enough free disk space for the backup file.

Section 3

Create a backup

Open EnMigrate Pro › Create Backup.
Choose what to include: database, plugins, themes and uploads (or a database-only or files-only backup).
Press Create backup and keep the page open while the progress bar runs.
Download it from Backups whenever you need it.

Protected. Backups are stored in a protected folder and only administrators can download them.

In Settings, turn on the daily backup and choose how many backups to keep; the oldest are deleted.

Section 4

Restore

Open EnMigrate Pro › Restore.
Upload a .wpb file (any size: it goes up in small parts) or pick a backup from the list.
Start the restore and follow the live log: tables imported, URLs replaced, folders restored.
Sign in again when it finishes.

Never half restored. The database is imported into temporary tables and swapped in at the end, so an error during the import never breaks your site. Restores run in short steps that resume by themselves, even on shared hosting.

Section 5

Move a site to a new domain or server

On the old site, create a full backup and download it.
On the new server, install WordPress and EnMigrate Pro.
Restore the backup there.

URLs and paths are replaced everywhere, including serialized data (theme options, widgets, menus) and the JSON of page builders. A different table prefix is handled too, with user roles and capabilities.

Open Destinations and add one (cloud services connect with a button; servers ask for their access data).
Press Test to check the connection.
Send backups there by hand or from a schedule, and restore straight from the cloud.

Pro: schedules Pro

As many schedules as you need: every 6 or 12 hours, daily, weekly or monthly, at the time you choose.
Each schedule has its own content and destinations.
Retention per destination: keep only the latest backups.

Pro: encryption, exclusions and alerts Pro

AES-256 encryption of the backup files with your password.
Exclusions: folders, file types, big files and database tables.
Alerts by email, Slack, Discord and Telegram.
Safety backup of the database before every update.

Section 9

Pro: staging Pro

A staging site is a private copy of your site in a folder like /staging-new-design/, with its own database tables. Try plugins, designs and updates there without touching what your visitors see.

Open Staging, write a name and press Create staging site. Keep the page open while it copies the database and files.
Press Open and sign in. A "STAGING" bar reminds you where you are.
When your changes are ready, press Push to live and choose what to bring: database (optionally keeping the live users), themes, plugins and media.
Delete the staging site when you no longer need it.

Only administrators can open it, and search engines don't index it.
Scheduled tasks are off in the copy, so campaigns, backups and emails never run twice. Emails are blocked unless you allow them.
The page cache is off in the copy.

A backup first. "Push to live" makes a backup of the live site before anything changes. Orders or comments received on the live site meanwhile are replaced by the copy's database, so push at a quiet moment.

Questions and troubleshooting

The upload stops with big backups.

EnMigrate uploads in small parts, so upload_max_filesize doesn't matter. Check that the disk has enough free space.

After restoring I am logged out.

Normal: the users of the backup are restored. Sign in with an account of the backup.

Can I restore a backup made on another site?

Yes. URLs, paths and the table prefix are adapted automatically.
